winter is...here

- Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans -

Autumn in Edinburgh

So I am working on an Iceland blog at the moment, since it has been nearly 3 weeks since I went there. However, I had such an awesome time and did so much I think it might be a few more days yet! This puts the pressure on a bit because I’m jetting around so many places in the next couple of months that I’m not sure how I’ll keep up with posting when I'm already behind.

In the meantime I feel like it’s time to update on things here in the bonnie Scottish Capital.

Last time I wrote an update it was the end of summer, or maybe even spring. Now I think it’s safe to say winter has arrived, and if it’s not it’s at least 3 quarters of the way here. I hope anyway...if it gets much colder than this and I’m going to have to start living in the sauna at the gym!!

Princes Street Gardens

For the past couple months I have just been working away and socialising on the weekends, with a couple of trips in between. From this weekend it’s pretty much all on, and I will only be in Edinburgh for one weekend in December and one in January!

The countdown is on until my family arrives, and I am really looking forward to spending time with them showing them around and tripping to new places as well. First up Mum and I are going to explore the Christmas Markets and more in Prague on a sort of birthday trip.

Sunrise on my way to work

Then I will have my first chance to play Christmas host for Christmas Day. Fingers crossed we have something to eat. I made the Christmas cake back at the beginning of October and it looks awesome but I’m hoping it still looks that way in 6 weeks time! We are also going on a mini road trip around Scotland which I am looking forward to, since with all my overseas travel I don’t feel like I’ve had much chance to see things here!

New Years Day will see us off to Paris for 5 days, excite!!! Then shortly after that we plan to make the trip up to the Shetland Isles to explore some of the family history, something I have wanted to do for a long time and which will be really special to do with my Dad. After that we have some time in Edinburgh before Dad and Courtney leave, and Mum and I head to Ireland, something she has dreamed about since she was a little girl.

Afternoon tea with the girls

I’m so excited about the next few months. It’s going to be crazy busy but amazing I think. And did I mention I am going to Germany this weekend and Hungary in two weeks...

So here’s hoping I can get some semblance of a blog going, and it doesn’t suffer too much!

Much love from Auld Reekie (you can look that one up).
